Tina Williams Brewer is among the artists featured in Works by African-American Artists from the HMA Collection, a show honoring the Huntington Museum of Art’s distinguished collection of African American artists, a collection which it has been building over decades. The show is also an homage to Black history and culture.

Along with Brewer, the show features notable names including Carrie Mae Weems, Romare Beardon, Henry Ossawa Tanner and William Edouard Scott as well as distinguished self-taught artists including William Hawkins, Clementine Hunter and Dilmus Hall.

Brewer is among the artists in the show with local ties to the community along with Theresa Polley-Shellcroft, who, like Brewer, is a former Gropius Workshop leader, and poet/artist Elaine Blue.
