Interview with Ruby Anemic

Q: What is your inspiration?

A: Life.

Q: What artists or movements do you see your work as being related to?

A: It’s hard to say, maybe everything I see.

Q: Could you please describe your technique and process?

A: Intuition.

Q: How did you first get involved with art?

A: Through girlfriends.

Q: Who are your favorite artists?

A: Maybe Serge Gainsborough

Q: How has your body of work developed over the course of your career?

A: I try to get better everyday with my work.

Q: Are there any underlying themes that you see throughout your work?

A: To be honest, I don’t conceive my work thematically nor do I try to analyse it from a thematic standpoint after it’s complete. When it’s finished, it is entirely open for interpretation but I think there is maybe too much of an emphasis on the thematic interpretation of an artwork anyway. Themes are there to be extracted if the viewer wants to experience the work in that way.
