Bengt Lindström

Bengt Lindström (1925-2008) was one of Sweden’s best known contemporary artists of his time. His work was strongly influenced by the CoBrA art movement, which is evident in his unrestrained use of strong color and violent brushstrokes. Much like his contemporaries, Lindtröm incorporated mythical and primitive elements into his works. These pieces were often based on masks, gods, and monsters from Scandinavian mythology.

Lindström was also known for his work as a printmaker, engraver, and sculptor, having created several large-scale public works in Sweden. A five meter mural at the Västeras Science Institute and the “Y” sculpture at Midlanda Airport are just a few of his well-known public works.
