NEW YORK—De Buck Gallery is pleased to announce the representation of contemporary artists Juan Garaizabal, Robert Lazzarini, and Devan Shimoyama. Founded in 2010, the expansion of De Buck’s programs across its New York City, Saint Paul de Vence and Antwerp locations marks a fundamental shift in the gallery’s presence globally and the scope of its dedicated international audience. The gallery’s growing roster is complemented by new programs including a presentation curated by Rachel Vancelette at a residence within Tribeca’s new development, Six Cortlandt Alley, co presented by Halstead Property Development Marketing this fall.
The gallery looks ahead to exhibitions by newly represented artists Lazzarini and Shimoyama in New York in fall 2017. Robert Lazzarini’s first show with De Buck, Inflorescence, featuring new work and the artist’s first presentation of painting in New York City opens September 14, 2017 and will remain on view through October 26, 2017. Artist Devan Shimoyama’s first show with the gallery will precede his upcoming solo exhibition at the Andy Warhol Museum in 2018 curated by Jessica Beck and Jose Carlos Diaz. The gallery also looks forward to public art projects in process by Spanish artist Juan Garaizabal, and a major new body of work by Rashaad Newsome, who has been with the gallery since 2016, to premiere at the Park Avenue Armory.
Founded in New York by David De Buck, the gallery focuses on both contemporary and modern art and is deeply committed to supporting artists across international disciplines, movements and eras. David De Buck comments: “In a time when many galleries are contracting, De Buck remains committed to presenting artists who are pushing boundaries and exploring new ways to take the gallery’s program outside the confines of the traditional white cube.”
In conjunction with the gallery’s main locations, De Buck will present a selection of works from the gallery’s expanded roster at a luxury residence within Six Cortlandt Alley in Tribeca, a meticulously restored building converted into five full floor lofts including two duplex penthouses and a contemporary two story glass addition. This single residence presentation is curated by Rachel Vancelette and co presented by Halstead Property Development Marketing through November 2017. Artists to be on view include Bernard Aubertin, Joseph Cohen, Juan Garaizabal, Jeffrey Gibson, Mahmoud Hamadani, Keith Haring, Martin Kline, Hans Kotter, Robert Lazzarini, Rashaad Newsome, Pino Pinelli and Devan Shimoyama. The project follows Vancelette’s international curatorial endeavors including De Buck Gallery’s recent Opulent Landscapes exhibition in New York. The De Buck Gallery presentation within the 4th floor residence at Six Cortlandt Alley will be open by appointment beginning September 15, 2017.
