FC 1 Sells at Christie’s

In case you missed it, Yves Klein’s masterpiece ‘FC1’ was sold at Christie’s Postwar and Contemporary Evening Sale on May 8 for $36,482,500 and was integral to Christie’s overall record – setting sale that totaled $388,488,000. ‘FC 1’ is widely acclaimed as Klein’s ultimate masterpiece and was completed a few weeks before hispremature death, at the age of 34, in 1962. In their press release, Christie’s describes the painting as “One of the most important works of Post-War European art to come to the market.” The auction house created a wonderful video that sheds light on Klein’s legendary Fire-Color Painting, ‘FC 1,’ which you can view Here.
