The Armory Show

De Buck Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in this year’s Armory Show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center (September 5-7 with a VIP preview September 4), presenting a thoughtfully curated selection of work that fosters compelling conversations between groundbreaking contemporary artists and revered historical figures. Our booth is designed to establish a vibrant historical framework for artistic exchange, placing present-day voices alongside established masters, while championing a platform for diversity, visibility, and acceptance in an increasingly interconnected world.

We are thrilled to introduce Rashid Al Khalifa, a Bahrain-based artist whose captivating practice explores the manipulation of light and space through reflective sculptural forms. His work evokes a profound sensory experience engaging the viewer through subtle shifts in perception and materiality.

Works by contemporary artists Devan Shimoyama and Gommaar Gilliams will be in dialogue with works by historically significant artists including Christo and Jean Claude, Tom Wesselmann, and Robert Indiana.

As a special feature, the booth will showcase a cabinet of Pop artist Keith Haring’s iconic subway drawings – a powerful homage to the raw immediacy of 1980s street culture. These works are especially resonant following the landmark sale and exhibition at Sotheby’s last year of collector Larry Warsh’s iconic collection of Haring’s subway drawings, underscoring the lasting relevance of the artist’s vibrant visual language vis-à-vis contemporary conversations around access, activism, and public expression. Haring’s art continues to inspire and provoke, reminding us of the enduring power of art as a tool for social commentary and connection.

We invite you to visit the De Buck Gallery booth at The Armory Show 2025 to experience these captivating dialogues firsthand. Discover how historical foundations inform contemporary expressions, and witness the power of art to bridge divides and foster understanding.
