The forces of nature are at work on this once perfect apple, showing the marks of months of decay upon the fruit. Like the fairy tales invoked in Once Upon a Time, the apple here calls to mind the one with which Snow White is poisoned – even seemingly perfect objects are not what they seem and must submit to nature in due course.
