Chiachio & Giannone live and work together as partners in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Both are trained as painters and now use hand embroidery and textile mosaics to “paint with needles”. The duo’s textile mosaics reference LGBTQ artists and their legacy in Latin America. This practice, filled with humor and fantasy, is a celebration of the family portrait: by using themselves and their dogs as subjects, they find new and imaginative ways of depicting themselves as they consider changing concepts around family.

They recently completed a residency at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, CA and Lux Art Institute, Encinitas, CA, and have shown extensively, including exhibitions at Museum of Art and Design, Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, the Boston Center for the Arts, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Their work is held in public and private collections around the world, including the Buenos Aires Museum of Modern Art, Salt Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Emilio Caraffa Provincial Museum of Fine Arts. They have participated in fairs including Art Basel Miami, with Ruth Benzacar, and Cité International de la Tapisserie, in Aubusson, France.
